Discharge process

Before you leave the hospital, your doctor will write an order for your discharge, and your nurse will assist you with the discharge process. It is helpful to have the person who is driving you home be at the hospital on the morning you are being discharged. Transporters are available to assist you with your belongings, bring you to the front entrance of the hospital, and wait with you until your vehicle arrives.

If you have medical problems or questions about your care after you go home, please call the Kaiser Permanente Discharge Nurse Advice Service at 1-855-300-5732 (toll-free). This service is available to you 24 hours a day for the first week after discharge.

We are committed to a safe discharge and your rapid recovery.
